10 "Important" Movies Nobody Actually Likes

8. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

2001 Space Odyssey
Lucasfilm

A great deal has been said about this film, so without going over all the critiques again, it is still a major mystery why so many critics loved this film. It was also seen as an 'important film' for the fact that it did not stick to the standard Star Wars formula and 'dared' to be different. hence its entry on this list.

Unfortunately this difference was making a Star Wars film a truly awful affair, with unlikeable heroes, mysteries unsolved and a sense that the good setup by JJ in The Force Awakens had all been wasted. The experience is not too dissimilar to the prequel movies, where on the first viewing the film seems to be ok. But like consuming an extra large McDonalds meal, you soon find the whole thing extremely difficult to digest.

While there will be some who will continue to argue that the film is a strong entry in the franchise, even they must be scratching their heads as to the complete lack of sense of some characters actions. If it was a minor scale film it could be enjoyable, but making a massive blockbuster many adore have such low stakes was unforgivable.
