10 "New" Movies That Just Ended Up Ripping Things Off

9. Geostorm Is Every Disaster Movie Ever Made

Geostorm is a movie so transparently "influenced" by previous disaster movies that it very nearly becomes a full-on self-parody.

At various points, the movie borrows shamelessly from Armageddon (a family man heads into space for a perilous, possibly one-way mission), Gravity (there's a lengthy sequence involving Gerard Butler in a spacesuit) and The Day After Tomorrow (all the weather-based disasters), while you can probably argue it also owes something to the likes of Deep Impact and The Core as well.

Sure, disaster movies are rarely particularly unique anymore, but it's a special brand of insulting that Geostorm was so flagrantly a grab-bag of other, dubiously superior disaster porn flicks.
