10 "New" Movies That Just Ended Up Ripping Things Off

8. Life Is A Loose Remake Of Alien

Life is a mildly entertaining sci-fi horror romp, though one of its most complained-about aspects is just how damn familiar it all feels, clearly being especially influenced by Ridley Scott's genre classic Alien.

Much like Alien, Life is a claustrophobic space-set sci-fi about an alien creature running loose on a spaceship and picking the crew off one-by-one, and director Daniel Epinosa himself has admitted that the film was effectively conceived as a contemporary homage to Scott's film.

Unfortunately it doesn't bring enough new to the table to really succeed in its own right, and stylish comfort food though it is, it never really escapes the shadow of Alien nor graduates to anything more than a competent ripoff.
