10 "True Story" Horror Movies That Tricked You Into Believing Them

8. Faces Of Death

Another 70s movie that is completely of its time, Faces of Death has long been remembered as a film banned in numerous countries around the world, taken away from public consumption for its depraved dealings in death in all its forms. Whilst it was always exaggerated quite how malevolent the footage was, and quite how banned the film actually managed to get, Faces of Death prided itself on bringing the real experience of death in anthology format. Everyone loves a bite sized portion of murder, right?

In actuality, Faces of Death used pieces of footage that it then built a mythos around in order to make the whole thing seem like the real deal. One of the clips in question is of the aftermath of a grisly road accident that sees a cyclist being cleaned up off the road, with the other killings in the movie built around this central gruesome premise of this reality.

It does contain plenty of documentary footage and real clips, but Faces of Death isn't what it pretends to be with its padding of staged sequences.
