10 80s Films That Deserve The TV Reboot Treatment
6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Capturing the hearts of teens everywhere in the 1980s, Ferris Bueller was the ultimate slacker. The film saw Ferris, his high-strung buddy Cameron and his cool as ice girlfriend Sloane skip school for the ultimate day of shenanigans around Chicago.
The film looked at what fun could be if we all just let go of our anxieties and embraced life by the shoulder pads. However, this commitment to tom-foolery doesn't always translate into adult life. How far can a serial slacker get in life? We're pretty sure Matthew Broderick's diary is clear for a return to the character.
As a TV show the film and the character could find new life in an episodic format which allows for an over-arching story as well as a weekly antics style structure.
How It Should Work
Ferris must turn to his old pal and now successful, albeit miserable, businessman Cameron when he needs to make something of his wasted life and win back former lover Sloane who struggles to keep afloat a failing modelling agency following a brief modelling career.
