6. Gothic (1986)
An account of the night at the Villa Diodati in 1816 that led Mary Shelly to write Frankenstein and Dr John Polidori to write The Vampyre. Apparently opium and summoning up things were involved. The late Ken Russell did say that he thought that the pace of the film was too frantic. However, this is one of the most famous stories of literary creation and everybody involved is in the public domain. The idea of Mary Shelly experiencing the themes that would appear in Frankenstein is one that has potential. Besides, Im sure that if they leave it any longer theyll do a Doctor Who story about it anyway, so they should get in, while they still have the time.
