Give the casting director a raise.

So, so many things go into the creation of a great or even basically good movie - a confident, visionary director working from a sharp script with a killer ensemble cast, to name just a few.

But perhaps the most unsung-yet-crucial part of the process is casting, because no matter how great the director and script might be, they won't get too far without the right actors being hired for the job.

There's a too-unspoken art to casting that will finally start receiving Oscar recognition next year, of finding that one actor best-suited to playing a particular role.

It can make all the difference, and where upcoming movies are concerned, these 10 actors have all been perfectly cast beyond any doubt.

Now to be clear, not all of these movies are actually gunning for Oscars, but each has nevertheless made one "no notes" casting choice so perfect that it requires no imagination on the part of the viewer to buy into it sight-unseen.

Needless to say, if these movies don't work it won't be because the casting department were off their game - they absolutely nailed it...

10. Keanu Reeves - Good Fortune

Keanu Reeves' career has enjoyed one hell of a resurgence thanks to the John Wick franchise, but considering that Reeves is one of the world's best-liked actors with a squeaky-clean reputation to boot, his next part might be his most fitting yet.

In Aziz Ansari's directorial debut Good Fortune, Reeves will play a literal angel called Gabriel - a "budget guardian angel," to be precise - whose attempt to show protagonist Arj (Aziz Ansari) that his life wouldn't be improved by material wealth backfires spectacularly.

As a result, Gabriel is stripped of his wings and effectively exiled on Earth to live among humanity, as he tries to make sense of everything that's happened to him.

Given that Reeves is kind of a golden retriever in human form, this feels like a pitch-perfect fit for his sensibilities.

The audience's innate fondness for Keanu should make it incredibly easy to cheer on the wholesome Gabriel and see him hopefully regain his wings by film's end.
