6. Voldemort - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Voldemort was a thoroughly menacing foe throughout the Harry Potter series, though there's still the nagging feeling that had he been a bit more savvy during the fourth film, The Goblet of Fire, he might have been able to actually defeat Harry, and do it a lot quicker, too. Instead, he opts for a ridiculously ham-fisted plot, all stemming from the Triwizard Cup, which we discover is actually a hexed, secret means to capture Harry and steal some of his blood, such that Voldy can be reborn. It's so, so, so convoluted; everything that leads to this scene of Harry touching the Cup has been seemingly telegraphed by Voldemort to happen, his powers of pre-cognisance being just that strong indeed. Why not simply transport him through simpler means? Does it need to be a cup? Why? Furthermore, surely there are less nefarious ways to get Harry's blood? Take it while he's asleep, for instance, and arouse no suspicion whatsoever; then you can come back to life and have the element of surprise against Harry. Granted, it's fantasy, and sometimes with fantasy you just have to roll with it, but this one just seems so freaking obvious!
