Another child actor we wish had kept at it, Danny Lloyd proved in Stanley Kubrick's sublime horror classic The Shining that he could play s**t scared better than just about anyone. The shots of him riding around the hotel are unforgettable, as are his creepy utterances of "Redrum", and the countless bizarre sights he takes in around the place, including ultimately his own father (Jack Nicholson) going into full-tilt psycho mode. It's all the more impressive given that Kubrick made sure to protect Lloyd from the horror-based elements of the narrative (that is, everything), and he apparently only found out the film's true genre once filming had wrapped. However, Lloyd decided acting wasn't for him, and after taking a brief part in a TV movie, quit the business. He eventually became a biology Professor and continues to teach today.
