10 Actor/Director Team-Ups We Can't Believe Never Happened

4. Quentin Tarantino And Mickey Rourke

Tarantino Rourke Quentin Tarantino loves resurrecting the careers of once-promising actors, and there are few great actors more deserving of resurrection than Mickey Rourke. Imagine an actor of Rourke's calibre chewing over conversational, pop culture-referencing Tarantino dialogue; it just makes sense. Annoyingly, this almost happened, but Rourke's insistence on falling out with 90% of everyone he meets meant the role Tarantino offered him in Death Proof went to Kurt Russell instead. Rourke briefly had a career revival after The Wrestler, but threw away any goodwill almost immediately, due to what he would call his 'personality', but you or I would call "being an a**hole". It's a shame; a Tarantino-Rourke collaboration could've been something really special.
