3. Terrence Malick And Joaquin Phoenix
Terrence Malick has worked with almost every actor in Hollywood by now, going through the LA phone directory and calling everyone about their availability for his last six films. That said, one actor Malick still hasn't worked with is Joaquin Phoenix. Both Malick and Phoenix possess an otherworldly aura, as though they're aware of some higher plane only they and nature can understand, and Phoenix's immersion and insistence on remaining in character at all times would mesh perfectly with Malick's improvisatory approach on-set. Plus, Phoenix is like The Thin Red Line's Jim Caviezel, only 2.0 - it would make total sense to see Phoenix drifting through Terrence Malick's next film with a peaceful grin on his face, and his zen styling should hopefully see him cast in a Malick film soon. No guarantees he won't be cut out though.
