10 Actors And Directors Who Absolutely Hated Each Other
4. Sean Connery & Stephen Norrington
Film: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Sean Connery is a legend. From The Untouchables and Indiana Jones to James Bond and The Rock, he is adored the world over. Ever wonder why we don't see him anymore? Well, for that, you can blame director Stephen Norrington.
It all goes back to the 2003 dumpster fire - I mean "film" - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Remember that movie? Remember how awful the viewing experience was? Apparently the filming experience wasn't much better. During the shoot, Connery repeatedly butted heads with Norrington.
Both apparently have pretty powerful personalities, and that dramatically affected their collaboration. When Norrington shut down set for a day (because he wasn't satisfied with a prop gun), Connery berated him. He once declared that Norrington should be "locked up for insanity." The two argued daily, and in one particularly heated confrontation, Norrington goaded and taunted Sir Sean, asking him to punch him in the face. While reports say the punch was never thrown, things never got better between the two.
The experience drained Connery, prompting him to quit acting altogether. He has since said, "It would almost need a Mafia-like offer I couldn't refuse to do another movie."
