7. Chris Pine
Most famous for driving the Starship Enterprise, Chris Pine was arrested for drunk driving his car in New Zealand after he left the location-wrap party for the post-apocalyptic thriller Z for Zachariah. Pine was stopped by police during a routine check near the South Island town of Methven. Tests showed Pine's blood alcohol level to be three points over the country's legal limit of 0.8.
Casey Crawford, manager of the Blue pub said that Pine was drinking beer and "did not appear to staff to be intoxicated to a level where intervention might have been warranted". Legal proceedings delayed Pine’s planned return to Los Angeles. The court noted that Pine was remorseful and complied with every effort to assist the police, including pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Marilyn Gilchrist, Pine's lawyer unsuccessfully applied for the star to be discharged without conviction, arguing that a conviction would be out of proportion to the offence and affect his future film contracts.
The court ordered Pine to pay a fine equivalent to $79 USD and suspended his New Zealand driver’s license for six months. In addition, Pine made a large donation to CureKids, a charity which helps research children's life threatening illnesses
