10 Actors Who Had To Beg For Famous Film Roles

8. Orlando Bloom - Sympathy For Delicious

Orlando Bloom hasn't had much luck with this whole acting thing ever since he was tossed from the Pirates of the Caribbean series - a notion confirmed by the fact that he had to beg actor Mark Ruffalo for a part in his 2011 film Sympathy for Delicious. Playing the front man in a rock band, Bloom is "The Stain" in a movie about music and faith healing. We don't recommend it. Still, despite poor critical reviews, Bloom is pretty good in the movie (well, for Orland Bloom, anyway), despite the fact that Ruffalo - who directed the movie - didn't envision him for the role at all. According to Ruffalo, he had other actors in mind. "Orlando wasn€™t my first choice for this movie,€ he revealed. "I sat down with him and we talked about it and he said, €˜I€™m really broken right now and I need an acting experience. I need something where I can really dig in and change myself. I think that, for people to be great, they need a lot of trust and encouragement and love and that€™s what Orlando needed." Presumably Orlando was struggling with the lack of good roles after Lord of the Rings and Pirates; shame he didn't beg for a part in a different movie.
