10 Actors Who Had To Beg For Famous Film Roles

7. Michelle Pfeiffer - Dark Shadows

Michelle Pfeiffer seems far less inclined to appear in a movie than she did a decade ago, but you might recall seeing her recently in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, a relatively naff film that didn't seem to know what it was doing; Pfeiffer, however, was on noticeable form as one member of a large ensemble cast, which included the likes of Johnny Depp and Eva Green. Citing the fact that she very nearly lost out on her famed role as Catwoman in Batman Returns two decades ago, however, the actress has since admitted that she begged Burton for her Dark Shadows gig. "I called him up and begged him to be in it, okay?" Pfeiffer said on the subject. "It was shameless - oh, yes I did - I did. It was terrible of me. I was obsessed with Catwoman," she added, referring to what is perhaps her best remembered role. "I almost lost that opportunity. I mean things happen so kind of fast in that way. I thought, I'm not going to let that happen this time - I'm calling him!" Well, at least she's honest. We guess the old saying really does ring true: it's not what you know, but who you know. And in this case Michelle Pfeiffer knew Tim Burton.
