10 Actors Who Had To Beg For Famous Film Roles

6. Jason Bateman - The Change-Up

Despite the fact that it's not very good and nobody has watched it since, Arrested Development's brilliantly talented Jason Bateman - who seems unable to land himself a role in a good film - reportedly begged for his role in comedy The Change-Up, a body-swap comedy which co-starred Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde. According to... well, himself, actually... Bateman was so taken with the premise behind this comedy flick that he begged the studio to cast him. It's safe to say that Jason Bateman might've jumped the gun a little, given the end result. "I was very excited to read the script based on the fact I was going to be playing two parts," the actor - who has also appeared in the likes of Horrible Bosses, The Switch and Identity Thief (all terrible) said in an interview. "It's the funniest script ever read so when I finished it I immediately emailed the studio and said, 'Please, please let me do this movie.'" Who knew it was possible for Hollywood actors to lobby for the parts they want over email? He got it, of course; no news yet as to whether he regrets declaring it the "funniest script ever," though.
