10. Reese Witherspoon - Amy Dunne - Gone Girl
Rosamund Pike worked wonders with the character of Amy Dunne in David Fincher's recent adaptation of Gone Girl - so much so, in fact, that there's been hefty talk of Oscar nominations and a potential win at next year's ceremony. What you might not have known, however, is that that Pike was not the original choice for the part - Amy was originally supposed to be played by none other than Reese Witherspoon. The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that Witherspoon is actually credited as a producer on Gone Girl, and was actually one of the key people involved with bringing Gillian Flynn's novel to the big screen, having started to develop it as early as December 2011. We're not entirely convinced that she would have been right for the part, though, so it's probably a good thing it went to Rosamund Pike.
