9. Brad Pitt - Major William Cage - Edge Of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow, for all intents and purposes, should have done a whole lot better at the box office, given that it was arguably the best and most innovative (not to mention fun) sci-fi movie of the year. The fact that it didn't take in anywhere near as much money as the studio expected likely falls on Tom Cruise, whose bizarre public persona has only served to alienate fans and movie-goers over the years. Would Edge of Tomorrow have pulled in a lot more money had Brad Pitt, the studio's original choice for the role of Major William Cage, been cast in the lead role instead? It's hard to tell. Whatever the answer, one thing is clear: despite Pitt's box office appeal, Cruise was way more suited for the role on a creative level. It's hard to imagine Pitt showcasing the associated arrogance and cowardice that Cruise did here.
