10 Actors Who Just Can't Seem To Realise Their Full Potential

6. Idris Elba

This entry in our article may prove to be irrelevant in just a few months, but for now we're going to take this opportunity to talk about Idris Elba as much as we can. In the world of rising stars, Idris Elba has been climbing his way up the ladder for quite some time; many may think that he has in fact reached the top, but we believe that there is a great deal more to be seen from this enchanting actor. Though his career dates back to the mid-90s, the past few years have allowed us to become a bit more acquainted with Elba's talent, and we have yet to be disappointed. He is another actor who puts 110% into his performances - no mater how small they may be - and is able to make the most out of any part he is given. Unfortunately, actors today are often given the short end of the stick when they discover that their characters lack a certain depth - depth that could make or break their performances. Take, for example, Pacific Rim; an intriguing concept that excelled in special effects, and fell short in the realm of character development. We know we're supposed to feel for the characters, but can't quite put our finger on why. With just a bit more depth to balance out the lengthy fight sequences, the film could have been a great deal more improved. Idris Elba, however, had no trouble portraying his character's thoughts and emotions, even when half of the film was focused on giant robots battling alien-like monsters. Elba has earned his stripes in more ways than one, and should be rewarded with a chance to display his true range of talent. Notable Roles: The Wire, Luther, Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom Next Seen In: No Good Deed, The Gunman
