4. Mark Ruffalo
Before you start saying that Mark Ruffalo is already a very well known and respected actor, just hear us out. We submit to the fact that Ruffalo has had more attention in the past few years than ever before, but this is not due to him finally landing that ever-elusive defining role. Arguably his biggest claim to fame in recent years has been his portrayal of Bruce Banner in The Avengers, and while The Hulk is an iconic and massive part - no pun intended - so far it's not the one to define Ruffalo's career as it did for Lou Ferrigno. On the subject of the actor's talent, there's really no question that he is a powerful and emotive actor, and is more than capable of portraying weightier characters if given the chance. At this point in Ruffalo's career, it's not a matter of whether he will nab a defining role, but rather when the opportunity will present itself. Perhaps if Marvel ever takes another crack or two at the Incredible Hulk franchise, we might get the chance to see the actor develop Bruce Banner in a setting that allows him to be the center of attention. As stated, it's only a matter of time before somebody realizes Ruffalo's true potential and decides to take advantage of it. Notable Roles: 13 Going on 30, Zodiac, The Avengers Next Seen In: Infinitely Polar Bear, Foxcatcher
