Taron Egerton is best known for his work in the Kingsman franchise, but as soon as word of Jackman's retirement from playing Wolverine came out, his name popped up all over the Internet as a possible replacement.
Interestingly, Egerton was actually with Jackman on the day he announced his retirement, which led him to joke with the star about him taking the role, but as far as Egerton is concerned, it was all in good fun.
I am a huge X-Men fan! My feeling about that is... I don’t know if I’m quite grizzly enough. My facial hair is still very thin and patchy. I feel someone who plays Wolverine potentially needs testosterone in abundance. Yeah, I’d love to have a go at it, but I don’t know.
Rumors of Egerton being considered for the role aren't the only ones to pop up online about the actor. He is also in the running for playing Scott Summers, aka Cyclops when the Mutants head over to the MCU. Like Jackman's replacement, there are plenty of other contenders in the running for that role.
Either casting rumor would likely delight fans of the X-Men, Kingsman, and the actor, but as of early 2019, they remain little more than rumor and speculation.
