Jamie Bell may have had quaint beginnings as Billy Elliot, but the 32-year-old actor has successfully shed his child star origins as of late, most recently with a stellar performance in Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool.

He's certainly not a conventional choice to play Bond, with his short stature and still-boyish features, but he's absolutely got the acting talent to pull it off.

If the producers want a Bond who follows Craig's wiry, scrappy lead, Bell could be a great choice. Though he has worked fairly extensively in blockbuster films over the years, he's rarely been the lead actor, so that shouldn't disadvantage him at all.

Ultimately, though, what holds him back is a simple feeling that he just doesn't quite fit the expected look of James Bond. Sure, the same thing was said about Craig, but he had intensity and screen presence to compensate.
