Almost exclusively known for his action blockbusters, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is long overdue a leading role in a dramatic thriller. His starring role as Ford Brody in this summer€™s Godzilla is one of the best things about Gareth Edwards€™ blockbuster reboot, because he brings the kind of heart typically seen not in tentpoles, but in dramas. It€™s something he showed in spades as Vronsky in Anna Karenina, and you can be sure that Joss Whedon€™s got a meaty role for him as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in next year€™s Avengers: Age of Ultron. On revealing his identity, Snowden has said he wanted to put a face to this information, someone who would stand by it and verify its authenticity. That takes some serious cojones, knowing that you could be seen as a traitor by your own country and ultimately even face the death penalty. Courage of that kind is something Taylor-Johnson makes look effortless in his roles, particularly in Godzilla, and having worked with him on Savages, it€™s something Stone would have no trouble in tapping here.
