10 Actors That Really Need To Stop Repeating Themselves

8. Samuel L Jackson

One of the most prolific actors in the industry, Samuel L. Jackson has starred in well over 100 movies since his big screen way back in 1972. Since 2010 alone, the 68 year-old has appeared in 33 films with a further four set for release next year.

Although he likes to keep busy, one of the pitfalls of starring in such a high number of movies is that Jackson is frequently accused of phoning in his performances, and seems to have little interest in the material outside of the paycheck. While that may sound unfair, think of his disinterested work in Oldboy, RoboCop, Barely Lethal, The Legend of Tarzan, Kong: Skull Island and most of his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and you see an actor largely going through the motions.

It seems that only regular collaborator Quentin Tarantino can bring the best out of Jackson, with his performances in Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight standing head and shoulders above the rest of his output in recent years. A dedicated and motivated Samuel L. Jackson is still one hell of a talent, but the actor needs to stop coasting by on his natural charisma in a constant stream of average-at-best genre movies and rediscover the fire and passion that made him a star in the first place.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
