10 Actors That Tried Being Action Heroes And Failed Miserably

6. Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke occupies a strange position in the movie business, in that he has long since adopted a 'one for me, one for them' mentality that sees him balancing critically-acclaimed dramas with some of the worst low-rent action fare to be found this side of your local bargain bin.

In the last decade alone, he's received rave reviews and been showered in accolades for his work in Before Midnight, Boyhood, Maudie and First Reformed, but also showed up in some in some truly awful genre films like Getaway and 24 Hours to Live, and will next be seen in Wu Tang Clan member RZA's Cut Throat City.

While you have to admire the ability and desire to hop between prestige dramas and straight-to-video garbage on a whim, it hardly seems like a coincidence that the majority of his action-orientated output makes up a lot of the worst movies on his filmography.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
