With his awkward, dorkish smile and charming presence, Eddie Redmayne is the perfect fit for the lovable oddball characters of Fantastic Beasts' Newt Scamander or The Aeronauts' James Glaisher. He's one of those actors you can't help but root for, and nowhere was his enchanting personality put to better use than in Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory Of Everything.

Winning Redmayne an Academy Award for Best Actor as the late physicist, the film - adapted from the memoirs of his wife Jane Hawking (Felicity Jones) - chronicled the relationship with his wife, his struggle with motor neurone disease, and his scientific pursuits.

Following the success of The Theory Of Everything, Redmayne's next film would also see him win an award, but not the kind he was expecting: a Golden Raspberry for Worst Supporting Actor in the Wachowski's sci-fi soap opera Jupiter Ascending as melodramatic and villain with the silliest name Balam Abrasax.

Light years from Redmayne's standard affair, this performance was more uncomfortable than charming. Delivering the majority of his dialogue in a strange whisper whilst shouting others at full volume, whatever Redmayne was aiming for here simply didn't work.
