John Cusack first came to prominence in the 1980's starring in teen movies like Sixteen Candles and Say Anything... before he developed a reputation during the 1990's as a reliable and talented character actor. Bouncing around from genre to genre, Cusack gave solid performances in movies as diverse as The Thin Red Line, Con Air, Grosse Point Blank, Being John Malkovich and High Fidelity. However, in the last few years the actor has seemingly signed up for every project that comes his way, which is strange for someone who has previously admitted in interviews to taking their craft very seriously. Since 2013 alone, Cusack has appeared in no less than fourteen movies, the vast majority of which aren't very good. While the actor has done some good work (Maps To The Stars, Love and Mercy), his recent output is littered with poorly-received and blandly-titled genre flicks like The Bag Man, The Numbers Station, Drive Hard, The Prince and Reclaim. For an actor that has been dismissive in the past of taking roles solely for the money, Cusack has certainly starred in a large number of instantly forgettable straight-to-video action movies and thrillers. Case in point; this year Cusack will appear alongside fellow fallen star Adrien Brody in the $65m (and terrible-looking) Chinese historical actioner Dragon Blade.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
