With well over 100 feature film credits dating back to 1956, Michael Caine is without a doubt a legend of the big screen. The actor has won two Academy Awards from six nominations, along with three Golden Globes from eleven nods, and has starred in a huge number of classic movies from Zulu and The Italian Job in the 1960's right up to Children Of Men and The Dark Knight in the 2000's. Now in his 80's, Caine shows no signs of slowing down and is equally comfortable starring in smaller projects as he is taking supporting roles in studio blockbusters. No stranger to an easy paycheck, Caine famously missed the opportunity to collect his first Academy Award in 1986 due to Jaws: The Revenge, famously saying "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific." Outside of his recent work as Christopher Nolan's 'lucky charm', the actor has appeared in almost every imaginable genre during the 21st Century alone; voice work in Gnomeo & Juliet and Cars 2, disappointing remakes of his own movies (Sleuth and Get Carter), British independents (Harry Brown, Is Anybody There?) and big-budget Hollywood movies (Journey 2, Now You See Me). Despite starring in his fair share of terrible movies, Caine has always been open about taking jobs for the money; his self-deprecating appraisal of his own work has always been part of the actor's charm.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
