2. Al Pacino - Han Solo
... Al Pacino. Yes, we could have had 'The Godfather in Space'. In a recent 'Evening With Pacino', the Oscar-winning actor revealed to the world why he passed up on what was to be one of the most iconic roles of the 20th century, stating that: "It was mine for the taking but I didn't understand the script." Granted that the storyline changed dramatically over the course of pre-production and that the premise was quite 'far out (in a galaxy far, far out to be precise)' for a seventies sci-fi flick, but it remains to be seen what Pacino considered quite so confusing to warrant ruling himself out entirely. It would be intriguing to know just at what point in Pacino's career however, did his mindset change from turning down scripts of Star Wars standard for being "too confusing" to accepting scripts like 'Jack & Jill' despite being mind-numbingly inane. Still, with Pacino and the plethora of popular, 70's action stars before him turning it down, the role finally landed with Harrison Ford and, well he's not done too badly off the back of it has he?
