10 Actors Who Turned Down Roles In Star Wars

10. Tupac Shakur - Mace Windu

Tupac Samuel L We'll start with an entry that, whilst not quite to the title's specification, is a little nugget of trivia worthy of a place within its page. Tupac Shakur - rapper, actor and one of the best-selling music artists of all time - was, in the infancy of Lucas' prequel project, set to read for the role of Mace Windu. Tupac was a self-confessed Star Wars fan since childhood and expressed clear interest in becoming a part of the franchise. He even went as far as to lobby a mutual friend of his and Lucas' to arrange a meet between the two. Unfortunately, his tragic murder in the autumn of 1996 prevented any such meeting from ever occurring. The rapper was shot down on a street in Las Vegas, dying of his wounds six days laterat the University of Southern Nevada. The role was eventually given to Samuel L Jackson who went on to feature in all three prequel films. Jackson was responsible for the iconic purple lightsaber associated with his character, and general air of badassery.
