Danny DeVito has one of the most recognisable voices in entertainment, a voice which immediately creates the image of the man behind it in the mind of everyone who hears it. It would surely be equal parts distracting and fantastic to have heard DeVito's words filling the mouth of this year's live action Pikachu.

And therewere many people behind the film's production who did hear just that before Ryan Reynolds was eventually cast, as the team behind the Pokemon movie used audio of DeVito's character, Frank Reynolds, from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia in screen tests.

This all seemed to have stemmed from an online petition back in 2012 when a Detective Pikachu game was first announced, for which more than 50,000 people backed the idea of DeVito voicing the little yellow mouse, however, once the creative team tested Ryan Reynolds' voice, he became the front-runner.
