6. Mel Gibson
Notable Flops: Edge of Darkness ($81.1m against $60m), The Beaver ($6.3m against $21m) and Get the Gringo ($7.3m against $20m). It doesn't take a detective to work out why Mel Gibson's box office profile is flatlining at the moment; after his years of sexist, racist and downright insane rants, audiences have finally become fed up with the man, which is unfortunate given that the three aforementioned projects were all solid (and in The Beaver's case, great) movies, ones which could have fared significantly better had Gibson not dug his own grave so enthusiastically.
Upcoming Projects: Though Gibson was dropped by his talent agency and his Viking movie fell apart following the leaked phone calls to his ex-wife, he does have a few prosperous projects on the horizon; he's starring in Machete Kills and The Expendables 3 as headlining villains, and also has a cameo in the Tom Hardy-starring Mad Max: Fury Road.
