2. Colin Farrell - The Batman
No upcoming cinematic transformation has turned as many heads, however, as Colin Farrell's mind-boggling makeup job for his role as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin in Matt Reeves' The Batman.
It's a transformation so staggering that most fans didn't even notice Farrell in the film's stunning first teaser trailer, where his face is briefly visible for a few scattered shots.
Prosthetics have been extensively employed to change the shape of Farrell's face and pretty much every identifiable facial feature beyond his eyes, which are really the only "tell" that it's actually Farrell at all.
Hell, the makeup job was so convincing that even the actor's co-star Jeffrey Wright, who plays Jim Gordon in the film, walked past him on-set without recognising him.
From the little we've seen of Farrell's Penguin so far, it's clear that he's going to be a million miles removed from Danny DeVito's more heightened - yet still absolutely fantastic - interpretation of the character in Tim Burton's Batman Returns.
