After heading into 2022 boasting two of the most beloved roles the movie and TV business had to offer in Superman and Geralt of Rivia, by the time the year had reached its end, Henry Cavill's run as both the Man of Steel and leading light of Netflix's The Witcher had been brought to a sudden end.

With many assuming that Cavill's decision to pass the Geralt mantle to Liam Hemsworth, once the third season of the show has made its way onto the streaming platform in 2023, was partly made due to the Brit's focus on putting his all into Kal El going forward, it came as quite the shock to discover that his cheeky cameo at the end of Black Adam wouldn't actually be leading to a whole new DCEU era for his Supes after all.

Just a few weeks on from Cavill announcing his comeback as The Last Son of Krypton, a meeting with new DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran ultimately led to the star confirming that his "turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will."
