10 Actors Who Are Notoriously Hard To Work With

8. Daniel Day-Lewis

Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors of all time, winning three Oscars for Best Actor, and producing some truly astonishing performances. His on-set behaviour has been much-publicised down the years though, with numerous tales of his intense method acting. The Irishman gets so heavily involved in his roles that he becomes that character for months on end during filming, and never comes out of it until shooting is complete. For his role in The Last Of The Mohicans he lived in the woods before filming, and he reached similar levels of dedication with My Left Foot, In The Name Of The Father and Gangs Of New York, among others. For the former, he refused to get out of a wheelchair throughout the entirety of filming, in order to nail the role of the disabled Christy Brown. Numerous co-stars have spoken of Day-Lewis' intensity on set, and although the majority are understanding of why he is doing it, it must be unbelievably hard at times. The 57-year-old is a very reclusive character, making films only every few years, and preferring to dedicate his time to shoe-making and woodwork on his 50-acre estate in County Wicklow in Ireland. There is no denying Day-Lewis' brilliance, and being a fly on the wall during the making of one of his movies would be a pretty eye-opening experience.
