7. Edward Norton
Edward Norton emerged as arguably the most exciting actor of his generation in the mid to late 1990s, producing superb performances in Primal Fear, American History X and Fight Club. It seems as though his reputation for being a pain in the backside has halted his career somewhat though, despite still working today. The 45-year-old takes himself incredibly seriously, and doesn't suffer fools gladly on set. He is known for "shadow directing" - basically becoming too involved with the directing aspect of a movie - which must be hugely frustrating for the actual director. He cut the final version of American History X, despite director Tony Kaye's angry protests, and he re-wrote the script for The Incredible Hulk in 2008 because he didn't think much of it. He was reportedly so unhappy with the outcome of the final film that he refused to do much promotional duties prior to its release, outlining his loose cannon-esque behaviour further. Norton is clearly a perfectionist, which can be an admirable trait in the acting game, but his controlling nature and fiery temper make him a nightmare to be around when things aren't quite going the way he wants them to be.
