Despite only being a side character in the original trilogy's final film, Admiral Ackbar quickly established himself as being a real fans favourite. Much more than just the infamous 'It's A Trap!' line, Ackbar was a capable strategist and an instrumental cog in the Rebel Alliance's victory over the evil Empire.

There was obviously therefore a lot of hype surrounding the character when it was revealed that he would be making a return in The Last Jedi. Actor Tim Rose was certainly more than ready for Ackbar's return, claiming that he had high hopes that fans might be able to see more of the commander in action.

However his screentime was limited in The Force Awakens, and he was sadly reduced to little more than a cameo box tick and a quick death in The Last Jedi. Rose has been incredibly vocal on his character's poor handling and the lack of any real respect on set, with his pleas for more juicy bits of action for Ackbar seemingly falling on death ears.

Rose has also explained how being forced to sign off Ackbar in such a harsh and hurried way left him in tears on several occasions, and that he still hopes some changes could have been made.
