When undercover cop Freddy (Tim Roth) is describing Lawrence Tierney's character, Joe Cabot, to his buddy in Quentin Tarantino's indie masterpiece Reservoir Dogs, he likens him to "the Thing."

You know, the Marvel comic book character and member of the Fantastic Four. And it's true: Tierney did look exactly the thing, a growling, lumbering mass of a man who might have actually gone totally insane in his later years. According to Tarantino, that is. "Tierney was a complete lunatic by that time," the directed stated in an interview in 2010.

"We had decided to shoot his scenes first, so my first week of directing was talking with this f*cking lunatic." Tarantino went on to explain that Tierney questioned every little aspect of production, until the entire crew grew sick of him, and the pair ended up in a fist fight.

Tarantino fired him as a result, and Tierney returned home, fired a shotgun at his nephew, and was put in prison. HOLLYWOOD.
