10 Actors Who Confirmed They Were Almost Batman

3. Armie Hammer - Justice League Mortal

If William Baldwin was disappointed with the way his Batman courtship ended, then Armie Hammer must've been full-on tilted.

In 2007, Warner Bros. commissioned a script for a movie called Justice League Mortal, and later that same year, they hired George Miller to direct it. The movie was intended to be separate from the Nolan films, and would instead take place within its own cinematic universe.

For this reason, a brand-new Batman needed to be cast - and that's where Hammer entered the picture.

The actor was actually cast as Batman - alongside D.J. Cotrona as Superman and Common as Green Lantern - and was all set to play the character in Miller's vision for Justice League, but sadly, the movie collapsed due to several complicated reasons, including the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike.

Hammer's name once again entered the Batman picture when the time came to replace Ben Affleck, although he wasn't so lucky that time.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
