10 Actors Who Confirmed They Were Almost Batman

2. Josh Brolin - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Josh Brolin is no stranger to the world of comic-book movies, having played Cable in Deadpool 2, and Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Also... there's Jonah Hex. But we don't like to talk about that one.

If things had gone differently, he could've also been in a Batman movie as the title character, giving him another film to add to his pile of superhero projects.

Before Ben Affleck was cast in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Brolin spoke with director Zack Snyder about the possibility of him being the one to face off against the Man of Steel. In the end though, both men agreed that it wasn't the right fit, with Brolin revealing that there were "several reasons" why this was the case:

“Me and Zack had a conversation about it, and there were several reasons why we said it wasn’t the best idea on both sides. I had mine and Zack had his.”

Again, since Brolin has played Cable and Thanos - with the latter character appearing in two of the highest-grossing films of all time - we doubt that he's even bothered about not playing Batman, especially after seeing how Affleck's stint turned out.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
