10 Actors Who Criticised Their Own Recent Movie Roles
6. Dave Bautista As Drax - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
If Guardians of the Galaxy was the most unexpected hit in the entire MCU, you could argue that Dave Bautista's Drax was the most unexpected hit of the movie itself. Nobody could've predicted such a successful jump to Hollywood for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
From Volume 2 onwards, Drax was no longer the stoic hero as he was in the first movie, but was instead almost exclusively used for comedic relief. It feels as though Bautista was a victim of his own comedy chops - he was so funny that he was essentially pigeon-holed into doing little else in the franchise.
As Guardians 3 came around, fans were gutted to see the end of this iteration of the team - but Bautista himself couldn't wait to get away.
The actor told GQ that it was a relief to see the back of the "silly" role, as he wanted to move on to more dramatic work. It's understandable to want to branch out into other things, but hammering the entire role like this feels unfair.
