10 Actors Who Desperately Need Their Own Netflix Movie

4. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz has had one of the most bizarre careers of any A-list actress, blasting into Hollywood with her scene-stealing turn in 1994's The Mask and quickly becoming a red-hot commodity by the late 90s. She impressively scored four Golden Globe nominations between 1999 and 2003...yet hasn't starred in a critically-praised movie since 2005.

Of the dozen-plus major releases Diaz has starred in since, not a single one was well-received by critics, culminating in the thorough panning she received for her idiosyncratic, Razzie-nominated performance in 2014's ill-advised Annie remake.

Oddly, Diaz hasn't appeared in a single movie since Annie, and recently stated that she's taken time off to enjoy her marriage, with no plans to return to acting anytime soon.

It's especially strange as the actress' worldwide box office receipts total more than $7 billion - making her one of the most profitable actors in history - and she's been routinely able to command salaries of $10-15 million per movie.

Whether Diaz is a little bored of acting or is legitimately just enjoying life away from cinema - it's not like she needs the cash - it'd be great to see her back in something a little more low-key. After all, Netflix Originals aren't reviewed as broadly as theatrical releases, so even if the movie sucked, any potentially bad press would be decidedly more subdued.

Everyone loves a comeback, and a smaller Netflix movie could be a great way for her to try something new. Alternatively, what about Netflix just purchases the rights to Bad Teacher and we finally get that sequel? The original movie made over $200 million worldwide (on a low $20 million budget), so there's clear value there.

How Likely Is It?: Hard to say given Diaz's apparent ambivalence about movie-making as a whole, but if she does indeed return to acting, it'd be awfully short-sighted of her to ignore the possibilities straight-to-streaming presents. Don't get your hopes up, though. 3/10
