Released in early 2020 without all that much fanfare, Reed Morano's action thriller The Rhythm Section unfortunately underwhelmed both critically and at the box office, with the disappointing Blake Lively-starring adaptation of Mark Burnell's titular novel only earning back $6 million of its $50 million budget.

Fully throwing herself into the challenge of playing a character who finds herself in the middle of a few fist fights over the course of the largely forgotten picture, though, Lively actually came away with a pretty gnarly injury for her troubles.

When colliding as Stephanie Patrick with Jude Law's Iain Boyd, Lively would eventually explain that the pair's fight scene led to her severely breaking and injuring her hand. On top of severing a ligament and dislocating two bones, the moment her hand accidentally came into contact with Law's elbow saw her break "some things" and her hand "just basically turned into party confetti" upon impact.

Two surgeries, a whole lot of physical therapy, and six months later, filming eventually resumed on the eventual flop. Not even the star telling fans that they had to watch the picture "out of sheer guilt" after she gave her right hand for her art, could convince folks to give this action-thriller dud a chance, however.
