10 Actors Who Distanced Themselves From What Made Them Great
1. Daniel Craig - James Bond (Again)
It's that boy Bond again and this time we find ourselves in the odd situation where an actor is actively trying to distance themselves from a part they are still currently playing.
Daniel Craig has done a stand-up job in creating a depiction of James Bond that is both true to the novels, whilst also adding a gritty layered dimension to a part that was in danger of becoming a parody of itself in the latter days of Pierce Brosnan's tenure.
That's not to say that Bond was Craig's first breakout performance - he'd excelled in Layer Cake (2004) and Munich (2005) - but it was definitely the role that made him a household name.
Yet, it came as a bit of a surprise to hear Craig announce that he would rather 'slash his wrists' than play the part again, after almost 13 years behind the wheel. Appearing to be quite burned out, Craig mentioned how he'd like to 'move on' and 'think about other things', which was evident in his distinctly anti-Bond roles in Logan Lucky (2017) and Knives Out (2019).
After all that fuss, Craig finally agreed to stay on as 007 for the upcoming No Time to Die. But, with Lashana Lynch rumoured to be taking up the agent's mantle after this next feature, it finally looks as though Craig will get some much needed distance from the world's most famous MI6 employee.
