10 Actors Who Distanced Themselves From What Made Them Great

8. Katherine Heigl - Knocked Up

Even though Katherine Heigl had made a decent name for herself on the silver screen with major parts in Roswell (1999-2002) and Grey's Anatomy (2005-2010) it was her appearance in Judd Apatow's Knocked Up in 2007 that really catapulted her onto the big screen as a viable leading actor.

Fans responded positively to the flick and critics also lapped up the pregnancy-comedy, giving it a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score.

So, all appeared to be going well for Heigl and she'd convincingly added a new comedic layer to her palate as an actor.

Unfortunately, that only told one half of the story and as time passed Heigl felt that she needed to set the record straight about her time on set. Speaking to Variety, Heigl stated how she enjoyed working with Apatow and co-star Seth Rogen, but didn't feel comfortable with the film as a whole and even went as far as to label it as 'a little sexist.'

This led to a bit of a rift between Heigl and her colleagues - who felt betrayed by her denouncing of the film - which in turn meant that she wouldn't find herself collaborating with the dynamic duo again going forward.

She would forge an unremarkable romantic-comedy driven career in the wake of Knocked Up, yet she chose to stay clear of the particular style (and artists) that helped put her on the map as one of the mid-2000's hottest properties.
