10 Actors Who Gave The Best Performance Of Their Careers In 2020

3. Toni Collette - I'm Thinking Of Ending Things

Robert Pattinson Tenet
Netflix

To be honest, Toni Collette seems to give the best performance of her career in every single movie she appears in. From The Sixth Sense to Hereditary to Knives Out, it is quite literally impossible to find a bad showing anywhere in her filmography.

So to say that her role in I’m Thinking of Ending Things is her best yet is really saying something. Without spoiling too much, one of the aspects of the nightmare world that the movie takes place in is that both of the parent characters, the father being played by David Thewlis, keep ageing forwards and backwards. Collette not only has to give a quietly unsettling performance as the mother in the present day, but she has to believably portray the same character thirty years younger and still keep that creepy vibe going.

She then has to switch it up and play someone quite literally on the brink of death. But with her vast acting talent, she easily makes us believe in all three timelines.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the movie lives and dies on whether Collette puts in a good performance and of course she does.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
