10 Actors Who Gave Their WORST Performance In Great Movies

3. Mark Hamill—Star Wars

Star Wars George Lucas Mark Hamill

This one is sure to be controversial, and we’re willing to admit that as intergalactic saviour/ whiny nerd Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill does provide a solid self-insert for kids enjoying the film. The character does have to be relatively gormless in order for exposition to be delivered, and Luke’s constant “What’s that thing/ Why me” interjections are a narrative necessity in that regard.

But would anyone believe that the charisma-free dud who the films lands between chemistry goldmines Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford would grow up into one of the industry’s most loved voice talents?

Hamill has impressed as a villain in roles ranging from the rebooted Chucky to what some still call the definitive Joker, and the actor has long since shed the gawky flatness which followed him through the first instalment of George Lucas’ genre-redefining space opera. So we understand if you need to villainize us and excoriate this choice, but find the time to re-watch A New Hope and tell us we’re wrong about this great movie being Hamill’s lamest onscreen outing.

Well, maybe The Guyver. But who could contend with being overshadowed by Screaming Mad George’s effects?
