10 Actors Who Suffered Career Meltdowns After Winning Oscars

10. Colin Firth

Granted, Colin Firth's career is still "okay" - but has he delivered anything since 2010 at all close to the brilliance of his Oscar-winning performance in The King's Speech? Nope. The King's Speech looked as though it was going to mark the point at which Colin Firth made the final transition into an actor of the sublime kind with great role after great role, but he's chosen some very, very weird projects in the wake of that picture. The first movie we glimpsed Firth in post-Oscar was... Main Street? What was that about? This was followed by the downright cringeworthy Gambit (a major flop), and the ill-judged "comedy" Arthur Newman, which failed on almost every level. The Railway Man wasn't bad (but it wasn't amazing, either), whilst Devil's Knot, Magic in the Moonlight and Before I Go To Sleep were all just terrible. So the only good movies this gentleman has made in the last five years are Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy and Kingsman: The Secret Service? Firth doesn't even play the lead role in either of them. Based on his recent output, then, it's possible that this actor either needs a new agent... or The King's Speech 2.
