10 Actors Who Suffered Career Meltdowns After Winning Oscars
4. Brenda Fricker
The majority of the people on this list have suffered from extreme career lows, but to go to from an Academy Award winner to "Central Park Pigeon Woman" in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York... well, that's quite the achievement, isn't it? Who in God's name is Brenda Fricker, anyway? She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in My Left Foot alongside Daniel Day-Lewis, and then - just when things seemed like they might get interesting - they didn't. Three years after she was bathed in Oscar glory, Fricker was literally playing a character whose primary purpose was to be on-screen for a bit whilst covered in pigeons. It wasn't even a cameo or a winking nod at the audience ("Look, it's Brenda Fricker!") - she'd just been forgotten. So whilst Fricker continued to work after My Left Foot, her choices were questionable and she faded into something resembling obscurity. She retired in 2014 - 25 years too late, probably.
