10 Actors Who Suffered Career Meltdowns After Winning Oscars

5. Renee Zellweger

You might have totally forgotten that Renee Zellweger had an Oscar in her midst, but it's true: after a lovely, endearing turn as clumsy heroine Bridget Jones in the adaptation of Helen Fielding's best-selling novel, the actress picked up the award for Best Supporting Actress for her turn as a shotgun-wielding frontier chick in Anthony Minghella's Cold Mountain. Good for her, right? But something about the win seemed to derail Zellweger's soaring career path; with the world seemingly her oyster, she found her way into films (and delivered fine performances) in both Mrs. Potter and Cinderella Man. And then... well, nothing. Zellweger has been out of the loop for years now, and though she made a few movies in and amongst Mrs. Potter and Cinderella Man, none of them were very good or worthy of an Oscar-winner. It almost seemed like, resigned to the fact that things weren't going well, she decided to bail out of the film industry entirely. Now, in 2015, she has a new face - and has reportedly signed onto Bridget Jones 3.
